The Ugo family have been making delicious fresh pasta and noodles for some of the UK's top retailers, leading chefs and quality delicatessens since 1929.
In 1921, aged just 14, Luigi Ugo, left his home in Tortona, Italy to work in a grocery shop in London. With no wages, just board, lodgings and a daily supply of flour and eggs, he made fresh pasta by hand, selling it to local hotels and restaurants.
His hard work paid off and in 1929 he opened his first shop in Gerrard St. Soho. Del'Ugo first began producing Organic pasta products in 1967 for the Cranks Organic Cafe in Marshal St London, and have continued to do so ever since.
Today we continue to make pasta with pride and passion, marrying traditional skills and modern technology. We aim to produce the best and have awards dating from 1935 to the present day.
From humble beginnings they have gained an enviable reputation for fresh pasta and a gourmet range of recipes that have stood the test of time and represent some of Italy's finest regional cuisine.
In addition to the accolades heaped upon them it is also recognised that the Company has a rich history of being 'first to market'.
Amongst their lists of firsts is:
- The first fresh pasta manufacturer in the UK.
- The first Company to introduce filled pasta machinery to the UK.
- First to launch a fresh organic range of pasta in 1967.
- The first to introduce potato gnocchi into the UK.
- The first UK producer of fresh organic wheat free pasta.
- The first UK Oriental Noodle manufacturer.
- The first and only Company to master the art of both fresh pasta and fresh oriental noodle manufacture.
